Softly floral, gently herbal, and thoughtfully blended for the quiet end of the day.
Eventide Garden is a caffeine-free herbal tea created for those evenings when you're ready to slow things down. Rather than simply filling the blend with herbs traditionally associated with bedtime, we built Eventide Garden around botanicals that have actually been examined in human clinical research for sleep quality, relaxation, and related nighttime concerns.
At the heart of the blend are Passionflower, Chamomile, and Lemon Balm, supported by spearmint, lavender, and a touch of Ceylon cinnamon. The result is a gentle, pleasantly herbal cup that feels right at home as part of an evening wind-down routine.
Why we chose these herbs
Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) is the centerpiece of Eventide Garden and has some particularly relevant research behind it. In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, healthy adults drank passionflower as an herbal tea for seven days. Researchers found significantly better self-reported sleep quality during the passionflower treatment compared with placebo. A separate randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study involving 110 adults with insomnia evaluated passionflower extract and found an increase in total sleep time compared with placebo.

Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) brings its familiar soft floral character to the blend, but there's considerably more behind it than tradition. A 2024 systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated 10 clinical studies involving 772 participants. Researchers found an overall improvement in sleep quality, with several studies also reporting improvements in falling asleep and nighttime awakenings. The review did not find improvements in every sleep measure, including total sleep duration, which is why we prefer to describe the evidence accurately rather than simply calling chamomile a "sleep herb."

Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) adds a fresh, softly lemony herbal note and complements the evening character of the blend. Human clinical research has examined lemon balm particularly in relation to anxiety and mood. A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials found significant improvements in anxiety scores compared with placebo, although the researchers also noted substantial variation among the studies.

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is included in a deliberately small amount, adding its unmistakable floral aroma without making the tea taste perfumey. Lavender has also been extensively investigated in relation to sleep. A recent systematic review and meta-analysis of 11 randomized controlled trials involving 628 adults found improved sleep quality with lavender essential oil interventions. However, those studies primarily concern Lavender essential oil rather than Lavender Flowers brewed as tea, so we don't claim that the small amount of lavender flower in Eventide Garden produces the same clinical effect.

Spearmint (Mentha spicata) gives Eventide Garden a clean, refreshing finish and helps balance the stronger herbal and floral notes. Interestingly, spearmint has also appeared in human sleep research. One randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial found that participants receiving a specific Spearmint extract reported improvement in their ability to fall asleep. Because that research used a concentrated extract rather than ordinary Spearmint tea, we consider Spearmint primarily a flavor-balancing ingredient in Eventide Garden rather than making a sleep claim for it.

Finally, Ceylon Cinnamon provides just enough gentle warmth to round out the floral and green herbal flavors. We include it primarily for flavor and balance, not because we're relying on it for Eventide Garden's nighttime positioning.
A nighttime tea built a little differently
We didn't create Eventide Garden by simply collecting every herb traditionally called a "sleep herb." Each ingredient has a reason for being here.
Passionflower and chamomile form the research-supported core. Lemon balm complements the calming character of the blend. Lavender, spearmint, and Ceylon cinnamon help transform those botanicals into a cup you'll actually want to drink night after night.
That distinction matters to us. Herbal research is rarely as simple as saying an herb has been "clinically proven," and studies using standardized extracts or essential oils don't automatically prove that a cup of tea produces the same effect. Wherever possible, we look at the research behind the plants while still being transparent about what that research actually studied.
Eventide Garden is ultimately what we intended it to be: a thoughtfully formulated evening tea for slowing down, settling in, and creating a quiet ritual at the end of the day.
