Deep elderberry, bright citrus, and warming spice and ready to simmer at home.
Elderberry Hearth is a cozy DIY Elderberry Syrup kit that makes preparing your own small batch of elderberry syrup simple. Each kit contains pre-measured dried Elderberries, Hibiscus Flowers, Orange Slices, Ginger Root, and Ceylon Cinnamon. All you need to add is water and your favorite honey.
The elderberries provide a rich, dark berry flavor, while Hibiscus adds a pleasantly tart, fruity brightness. Dried Orange Slices bring a fresh citrus note, and Ginger & Ceylon Cinnamon round everything out with a gentle, warming spice.
Some of the ingredients are grown right here on our Homestead, and each kit is assembled in small batches. It's an easy way to make homemade elderberry syrup without purchasing several different bags of herbs and measuring everything yourself.
Each kit makes approximately 20 fl oz of finished Elderberry Syrup, depending on how much you reduce the liquid and how much honey you add.
Ingredients: Dried Elderberries, Hibiscus Flowers, Dried Orange Slices, Ginger Root, Ceylon Cinnamon. You add: 4 cups water and ¾–1 cup honey.
All Ingredients Are Organic • Small-Batch Blended • Made with Some Homestead-Grown Ingredients
To prepare:
Add the entire contents of the kit and 4 cups of water to a saucepan. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat and simmer uncovered for 35–45 minutes, or until the liquid has reduced to approximately 2 cups.
Remove from the heat and allow to steep for another 10–15 minutes.
Strain well, pressing the berries and botanicals to release the remaining liquid, and discard the strained ingredients.
Allow the liquid to cool until warm, then stir in ¾–1 cup of honey, depending on your preferred sweetness.
Transfer the finished syrup to a clean, tightly sealed glass jar or bottle and refrigerate promptly.
Makes: Approximately 20 fl oz of finished Elderberry syrup.
Finished Syrup Storage: Keep your prepared Elderberry Hearth syrup refrigerated in a clean, tightly sealed container. Use a clean utensil when serving and return the syrup to the refrigerator promptly after each use.
Best Used By: Because your finished syrup is homemade and contains no commercial preservatives, we recommend enjoying it within 2–3 weeks of preparation when continuously refrigerated. For longer storage, the finished syrup can be divided into freezer-safe containers and frozen, leaving adequate room for expansion.
Natural separation may occur, so shake well before using. Discard the syrup if you notice mold, fermentation, unusual bubbling, an off odor, or other signs of spoilage.
Unprepared Kit Storage: Keep the sealed dry Elderberry Hearth kit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture.
Flavor profile: Rich Elderberry • Tart Hibiscus • Bright Orange • Warming Ginger • Soft Cinnamon Spice
